The beautiful Gila monster is not a monster at all and is becoming a rare sight in the wild with urban encroachment.
It is a large reptile and can move fast when needed. Unfortunately, not fast enough to escape humans or their vehicles. It hibernates in burrows in cold weather and stores fat to survive in it’s tail.
